The Three Major Operators Will Try 5G Commercial Trial This Year: Huawei's Technology Leader Nokia Qualcomm First Completed The Test
Jan 04, 2019

On January 3, the IMT-2020 (5G) promotion group said that in the third phase of China's 5G technology R&D test, Huawei took the lead in completing the 5G core network security technology with a 100% pass rate on December 27, 2018. test.

At present, China's 5G technology R&D trials include 5G key technology verification, 5G technology solution verification and 5G system networking verification. For the commercial 5G network, these three test phases must be tested, and Ericsson and Nokia. Qualcomm, Huawei and other vendors are all working with the three major operators to conduct these three phases of testing. This time, Huawei took the lead in passing this test, which means that the domestic 5G network has taken another step.

Huawei 5G technology leading friends to provide networking foundation for domestic operators

In terms of 5G technology, Huawei has more accumulated than other friends, which can be seen from the progress of the actual test. In the three phases of China's 5G technology R&D trials, the first and second phases, as well as the third phase of non-independent networking (NSA) and independent networking (SA) functional testing, Huawei's 5G core network was first 100 The % pass rate was successfully completed.

Prior to this, Huawei has joined hands with China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom to open the 5G core network. In terms of progress, Huawei is faster than Nokia, Ericsson and Qualcomm. At present, Huawei's 5G base station It has been widely tested by the three major operators, and at this rate they are expected to account for more than half of the corresponding 5G equipment purchase orders.

When will the domestic 5G network start trial commercialization?

According to the attitudes of the previous three major operators, in the third quarter of 2019, the construction of commercial 5G networks will be completed in China. That is to say, starting from the third quarter of this year, operators can conduct 5G network trials in some key cities. Commercial.

After the three tests of the 5G network are completed, the next step is the operator's final networking process, as well as the test of network terminal compatibility. After these processes are completed, they will start commercial trials. Therefore, after the completion of the third test phase, it can basically be understood that the operator can conduct the 5G trial commercial test.

Huawei's current 5G progress

The Polar Code (Polarization Code) promoted by Huawei is recognized as the final scheme of the 5G control channel eMBB scene coding. This standard can meet the three major application scenarios of the ITU's ultra-high-speed, low-latency, large-connected mobile Internet and Internet of Things. demand. In a series of tests such as the previous 3GPP 5G millimeter wave commercial call, Huawei completed the test of its own Balong 5G baseband, and now they have the ability to provide end-to-end full solution support for 5G networks.

In addition, the number of patents given by ESTI in the previous period shows that Huawei, which is the Polar code, ranks first, patent data reaches 49.5% (with 51 patents), and our familiar Qualcomm ranks fourth, with the proportion of patents. Only 5.8%, far behind Huawei.

On December 18, 2018, Huawei's rotating chairman Hu Houkun said for the first time that they have obtained more than 25 5G commercial contracts, are global leaders in 5G commercial contracts, and have shipped more than 10,000 5G base stations.
